[Art to Wear Piece]

In Progress- Building to scale.

I added another tier of skirt and some subtractive surface treatment by cutting and then raising it with foamcore. A little bit more and I should be done. I’ve been playing safety pins to create some sort of sleeves..but I don’t know I was trying to create gauntlets out of paper so that platonic solids went on top but it looked too odd to me. Perhaps I will keep playing with my material to see what I get.

I decided that platonic solids had to be included. They were my favorite to make. Although, I had to photo copy many different sizes to get exactly what I wanted. After that I built them and us velcro to attach them. So if who ever is wearing them doesn’t like them can remove them.

That zipper was definitely a challenge but it makes it a lot easier to take off the mannequin, although I haven’t actually tried it on a real person. I actually added some serial planes on the sides on the garment to make it more dimensional. It’s really starting to feel warrior-like.

Got some tacks, they make for an interesting piece. I actually had to hammer and glue them in. It was so much fun but one would think banging a hanging against some metal would be fine, well that’s wrong. I had to hit just hard enough to bend the tip but gentle enough not to break it.

The top has literally been the bane of my existence. I’ve had to draft at least five - seven different patterns to figure out. In addition, the bristol I had in mind was not working, eventually I had to to discontinue my efforts and step back. I wound up getting another material. Just watch where this is going.

The skirt has been much more of a breeze than I thought but it definitely needs more layers to cover up the body. No one would wear something this revealing.

Can you see where I’m going with this? Gradation of course. It will give it some dimension. This is mostly for the skirt. There are about 75 pieces in just the two tiers I’m making now. Plus the look of it will definitely be more romanesque.
